Parallels 5 – my choice

I have reinstalled the bootcamp partition in order to better test the real side of Fusion 3 and Parallels 5 in a clean environment.

I finally choose to use Parallels 5 as it runs faster and especially I can use all the finger actions on the trackpad.

Thanks goodness.  After weeks of jumping ups and downs for RAM incompatibility issue and hesitation on which virtual machine to use, now I can sit down and start finetuning my computer.

    Thanks for the remark.

I haven’t decided which to choose, I am waiting for my new mbp. However, as for my previous experience, I feel PD will be a little faster, while Fusion can be more stable. Many recent review, including yours also proves it. ;)

Yes. I picked P5 due to the same reason. Also the most important thing to me is P5 can use all multitouch trackpad functions in Windows while F3 doesn’t. If you are using MB or MBP, it is a killing feature you would die for.

What’s your final conclusion of the two virtual machine software?

      I picked Parallels 5.

I reinstalled Bootcamp and Windows 7. After a clean install, Parallels 5 now runs smoothly on my machine — better than under Fusion 3. Of course, the speed is still a little bit sluggist comparing with pure bootcamp. Well, maybe it is better to say that it just likes running on a slower machine. Frankly, it is hardly noticeable if you are not having a preconception in mind.

Also, most of the problems of Parallels 5 I stated in my first post were gone. Except that the screen are still flashing sometimes. It is acceptable anyway and less happens in Coherence mood.

I am now having Parallels 5 running all the time and I am happy with its performance. Will post my settings later.
